Community Educator
The Community Educator provides high quality educational programs and classes throughout the District. Serves as the primary point of contact for scheduling and delivering under the direction of the Fire Marshal.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows the Organization’s Mission and Values
- Serve as the primary contact person for scheduling educational programs or classes
- Deliver programs or classes as directed by the Fire Marshal
- Assists as an educator for the Youth Firesetter Intervention Program
- Work with businesses and schools to provide assistance on emergency evacuation planning and drills, approved by Fire Marshal
- Coordinates with the Digital Media Specialist to disseminate educational campaigns or messages
- Research and assist with applying for grants related to fire and life safety
- Maintain swag inventory and educational equipment related to the Fire Marshal Division
- Performs other duties and/or tasks assigned by the Fire Marshal from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Background or experience in emergency services
- Experience in presenting or delivering educational classes
- Experience in community risk reduction projects or programs
Must obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment:
- Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist through the State of Colorado IFSAC
- Life Safety Educator certification through State of Colorado IFSAC

COMPENSATION
This position is an hourly, non-exempt (non-benefited), part-time position. Schedule based upon the needs of the department, but will not exceed 24 hours per week. New hire rate will be $26.00 per hour.
